Ad - a 256 625 ß ' Final

چکیده
We describe two optical systems based on the radial basis function approach to pattern classification. An optical disk based system for handwritten character recognition is demonstrated. The optical system computes the Euclidean distance between an unknown input and 650 stored patterns at a demonstrated rate of 26,000 pattern comparisons per second. The ultimate performance of this system is limited by optical disk resolution to 10 binary operations per second. An adaptive system is also presented which facilitates on-line learning and provides additional robustness.

Evaluation of a chromogenic agar medium for the detection of extended-spectrum ß-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae.
AIM To compare the performance of a new chromogenic agar medium CHROMagar ESBL (KC-ESBL) to chromID ESBL (SB-ESBL) for the detection and presumptive identification of extended-spectrum ß-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Enterobacteriaceae directly from clinical specimens. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 256 specimens were screened for ESBL producers. Also, the genotypes of the ESBLs and plasmid-medi...
متن کاملFlocculation of Swine Manure: Influence of Flocculant, Rate of Addition, and Diet
Manure was collected from growing pigs (22–48 kg) fed one of 11 diets varying in total and available phosphorus content. Reduced phosphorus diets were amended with feed additives intended to improve availability of phytate phosphorus. Diets were replicated over three feeding periods resulting in 33 manure samples. Collected manure samples were diluted (final solids content approximated 2.4% tot...
متن کاملReduced molecular size and altered disaccharide composition of cerebral chondroitin sulfate upon Alzheimer’s pathogenesis in mice
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive disorder leading to cognitive impairment and neuronal loss. Cerebral extracellular accumulation and deposition of amyloid ß plaques is a pathological hallmark of AD. Chondroitin sulfate (CS) is an extracellular component abundant in the brain. CS is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan covalently attached to a core protein, forming chondroitin sulfate proteogly...
متن کاملExosomes as Carriers of Alzheimer's Amyloid-ß
The intracerebral level of the aggregation-prone peptide, amyloid-ß (Aß), is constantly maintained by multiple clearance mechanisms, including several degradation enzymes, and brain efflux. Disruption of the clearance machinery and the resultant Aß accumulation gives rise to neurotoxic assemblies, leading to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In addition to the classic mechanisms of ...
متن کاملAmyloid-β oligomers set fire to inflammasomes and induce Alzheimer's pathology
Genetic and molecular studies have confirmed the central role of amyloid-ß production and fibrillation in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). However, the pathological pathways from amyloid-ß peptide oligomerization to the major pathological hallmarks of AD, such as neurofibrillary tangles, inflammation and loss of cholinergic neurons, are largely unknown. The innate immunity defence ...
